Being a man doesn't exempt you from taking care of your skin. Skincare is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle and should be done regardless of your gender. I've never put to thought the routine men have for taking care of their skin so I did my research and will be bringing to you the top skincare routines you should follow that take less than 10 minutes to accomplish.
With this article I'll be assuming you're a beginner and you’ve never washed your face with anything other than hand soap and never used, much less bought, a moisturizer. **LOL** Here are the steps you need to take in the correct order:
Facial Cleanser - Cleaning your face in the morning has a few benefits. It will make you more energized and ready to start your day. It will clean away any bacteria and dead skin cells that rub on your pillow when you sleep. It will leave your face clean and you'll start to see a change to your skin. Doing the same at night is crucial. After a long day of work, whether indoors or outdoors your face accumulates an insane amount of bacteria from your hands, dust and other people who surround you.
Moisturizer - Most men don't appreciate moisturizers because of the "glop" they feel on the face. Totally understandable and for this reason we have lightweight moisturizers that leave your face feeling fresh and clean without the extra stickiness you want to avoid. Moisturizing will at the very least, keep your skin from feeling dry, and at the most, help it maintain moisture that will keep you looking great for years to come!
SPF - Wearing sunscreen should be done everyday. Harmful rays from the sun can cause early aging, dry skin, cancer and other skin conditions. If you don't want to "waste" time in the bathroom with your skincare, you can buy a SPF with a moisturizer (2 in 1) and skip the second step of your routine. Obviously, if you have the time and you'd like to take your skincare to the next level you can use products such as serums, masks, exfoliates etc. Regardless, the top three mentioned above should be your absolute must in your everyday skincare routine. Tip #1. Taking care of your skin is not just in the products you use but also in the foods you eat. Foods such as, Fatty Fish - salmon, mackerel and herring, are excellent foods for healthy skin. Avocados, Walnuts, Sunflower Seeds, Sweet Potatoes, Red or Yellow Bell Peppers, Broccoli and Tomatoes. Tip #2. After showering, avoid using the same towel you wipe your body with to your face. Having 2 separate towels can help you avoid unnecessary skin problems in the future. Tip #3. When using skincare products opt for 100% organic ingredients. The last thing you want when doing skincare is unknown chemicals on your face.
