Burning sage has long been used to connect to the spiritual realm or enhance intuition. For many Healers and traditional communities, burning sage is used to achieve a healing state. This article is not all hocus pocus. What got me interested in the topic to begin with is the understanding that there are real healing properties to it such as uplifting moods, relieving stress, improving sleep, boosting energy levels and improving memory and focus.
Understanding The History Of Sage
For thousands of years sage has been used for both healing and spiritual reasons. Today sage is used for purifying the environment and can also be used as an antioxidant. There are various different kinds of sage such as the common sage, garden sage, true sage, Spanish sage, and Chinese sage. Although we have some information on sage, there is still plenty of research that needs to be done to fully understand the power of this plant. Sage can be taken as a liquid, spray, capsule, or tablet and with that, many benefits come along.

Uplifting Moods. When I worked on creating my scent for the Meraki Winter Collection, I had to test out different scents and understand what each one had to offer. For example Rose, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Geranium and Cedarwood among others are great essential oils for Romance. So too, Sage has amazing benefits when it comes to uplifting your mood. The scent of Sage Oil is known to cerebrally, emotionally, and spiritually stimulate and clarify the mind while exhibiting a balancing, uplifting, soothing, and strengthening effect on the senses to ease negative moods* and fatigue. You can do this by using essential oils, smudging or ingesting.*
* Do NOT ingest without consulting a doctor first.
* If you have extreme mood disorders this might not be a remedy for you. This is NOT to be taken instead of medical advice from your physician.
Relieving Stress. When used in aromatherapy, clary sage oil can help alleviate stress by giving you a sense of well-being. When inhaled, clary sage can bring you feelings of relaxation and also help reduce blood pressure. Burning sage releases negative ions in the air and naturally cleanses a space and can make you feel more positive, just like the Himalayan Salt Lamp.
Improving Sleep. Sage contains compounds that can help ease insomnia, improve sleep and reduce anxiety. Because sage can purify the air from up to 94% of harmful bacteria for up to 24 hours AND reduce anxiety and stress, our bodies can relax and gain a better sleep.
Boosting Energy Levels. When you get rid of all the negativity, chemicals, stress and other bad energies from your body, you will feel more refreshed, energized and motivated.
Improving memory and focus. Sage has the ability to enhance your head and brain function. It can help quicken the senses, slow down aging cognitive issues and improve mental performance.
