Your body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care. ~Buddha
Here is my confession: My body is not curvy, my breasts are not big, I may have some stretch marks and I am not picture perfect but when I look in the mirror, I feel sexy and beautiful. If you are struggling to embrace your body you are not the only one. I often hear women talk about the things they would like to change in their bodies.
FACT: All women are beautiful and confident but some don’t know how to accept the beautiful gift they were given. Sometimes the thought of a boob job or more curves or a nose job will make us happier. Truth be told, acceptance is the key to embracing our body… flaws and all! From a young age, insecurities can arise from believing that beauty is what the TV or magazines portray.
GIRL! You are beautiful and all your “flaws” are what makes you perfect!
We need to embrace our bodies and love ourselves for who we are. Making the right choices and changing the way we see perfection will allow us to accept and embrace our bodies.
Become Friends With Your Body. Put every negative feeling aside and write down every positive aspect of your body. Think about the things your body does for you every single day and what you can do with it. Once you do this, you’ll realize your body isn’t so bad to hang out with. Loving your body takes time and doesn’t happen overnight. Learn to look at yourself in the mirror without judgment.
Meditate. Meditation is a beautiful way to center yourself. When life is stressful or your mind is racing, you can always turn to meditation. Find a quiet, comfortable space, close your eyes, and simply breathe.
Stop Body Shaming. How many times have you caught yourself comparing your body to someone else’s? This behavior is toxic and only breeds more hate. On the same level, stop body shaming yourself. It’s hard to prevent the negativity from filling your brain if you’re so used to these thoughts. Replace negative thoughts with something positive. Be proud of your body and the way it functions.
Dress For You. The first rule of dressing for your body is to wear something that makes you feel great. Taking the time to get to know your fashion sense and what makes you happy will help you feel more confident about yourself. No matter your size or shape, there’s a style that works for you. Don’t be afraid to look for inspiration in other sources.
