Being able to emphasize your curves could be very flattering and it all depends on the kind of dress, jeans, skirt etc. that you buy. For now I'd like to put my main focus on the dress aspect. Wearing a nice dress that accentuates your waist can take your look from chic to sexy in less than 5 minutes.
Know your body shape. It's very important to know what shape your body takes. And before I move on, I'd like to state the obvious and that is IT DOES'NT MATTER WHAT SHAPE YOUR BODY TENDS TO TAKE!!! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!
1. Hourglass - With this body figure it's important to recognize your waist line. Because hourglass figures have well-defined waists, this asset should be accentuated!
Here are some dresses that will emphasize those gorgeous curves.
Striped skater dress
Wrap dresses that cinch your middle
Fit and flare dresses
Learn to use belts when you need that extra cinch. It'll make all the difference.
Empire waist dresses
2. Rectangle (Straight) - Having a rectangle body shape means you are not particularly curvy, your waist is not well-defined and your weight is fairly distributed throughout the body.
The best dresses for you to wear would be:
Create an Hourglass with A-Line Wrap Dresses
Add to Your Figure with Volume, i.e ruffles
Use advantage of colors and stripes. Tip: vertical stripes will make you look more lean and long.
Belts - make these your new best friend and style up any dress to emphasize your waist.
Hemlines that are too short.
Strapless dresses and dresses that don’t have enough support (i.e. spaghetti straps)
3. Triangle (Pear) - Girls with a triangle body type typically carry most of their weight below their waistline. Their shoulders are narrower than their hips, they have a small bust, their waist is defined, and their hips and thighs are full.
Here are some good dresses for you to consider:
Wear a belt to accentuate your waist line
Baggy dresses/ over-sized/ shapeless styles
full poofy dresses or skirts
Drop waist dress
4. Apple (Inverted triangle) - If you have an apple-shaped body, then your body is "top heavy," meaning you have a wide torso, broad shoulders, and a full bust, waist, and upper back. Apple-shaped bodied women also tend to have thinner arms, legs, and hips, and tend to gain weight at their waistlines. Don't worry ladies, if you have this beautiful body shape the fashion industry has made something special for you too!
A-lines and lower waistlines
Dresses that slightly flare out (these dresses will help balance out broad shoulders)
Thick strap dress
As you can practically wear anything and pull off a stunning look (lucky you!), the only thing I would recommend you steer away from is attracting attention to your waistline. You can do so by avoiding stripes (specifically horizontal as they widen the look) and natural waistline dresses.
