It's time to introduce you to the idea of a cold shower a.k.a cold out. A cold out is when you use the last 30 seconds of your hot shower to fully immerse yourself in the coldest temperature your shower provides. I know you think this is crazy - it is and I'll be the first to agree with you since I am literally addicted to smoldering showers. But hear me out, there are some benefits you are totally missing out on and once you are aware of these amazing hacks, any slight discomfort will be worth it. The first thing I'd like to bring to the table is the fact that hot showers are not healthy for anyone, at the most take a warm shower. (This totally makes me sound like a hypocrite lol but I promise I'll work on it too) Hot water irritates skin, leaves it dry and can cause a flaky, itchy scalp. On the other hand, Cold water will also produce a little extra shine to your hair and leave your skin softer than ever! Tip: Heat opens your pores while the cold brings them closer together, giving you a smoother and tighter appearance. If shiny hair and smooth skin isn't enough to convince you, here are some other great benefits that might win you over.

  1. Loose The Calories - Cold water increases your heart rate. For those last 30 seconds in the cold water, your body becomes shocked and works harder to maintain body temperature, which will burn more calories. It is also a great way to start your day and give you that extra energy dosage you may need.

  2. Mood Up - As much as you may think showering in cold water is a disaster (even for the last 30 seconds) cold showers can increase neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and endorphins and will result with a good, energized feeling after all.

  3. Boost Your Immune System - Catch this! You gotta Get cold to get rid of the cold:) Cold outs prevent illnesses and will boost your immunity! This method is best used during cold or flu season. This will improve lymph movement and circulation which can also help heal the body faster from injury or illness. If you still think this is crazy, I invite you to give it a try. I know 30 uncomfortable seconds will feel like an eternity but it definitely won't kill you so what have you got to lose! I'd love to hear about your experience in the comments below (or on the IG post)!!
