10 Ways To Burn Calories At Home

I know most of you love being glued to your seat all day binge-watching Netflix. While it's a good thing sitting down and relaxing, it is also common knowledge that too much sitting down is the new form of smoking. And it's not healthy!

So what can you do? Find time to take a break, get up, and do some movement to stretch those muscles and burn those calories.

Here are 10 ways to burn your calories at home, and I've tried most of them!

1. Clean your house.

Yes, this doesn't just make your house clean but it also makes you look good. What I mean to say is you have to be mindful about your movements like when you wash your dishes you can stand on your toes, or when you bend over a dustpan clench your core.

2. Take the dogs out.

Truly dogs are indeed man's best friend. Running around with your dog or taking them for a walk is a great way to burn those calories and have a great workout without going to the gym. Did you know that just 10 minutes a day of playing with your dog on a moderate level of intensity can burn more than 15,000 calories a year?! Yes, you can read all about that here.

3. Those thighs? Squeeze it!

Use thigh bands while working or sitting down and do this for 30 minutes. You'll find how it'll make you sweat!

4. Use your stairs.

Don't underestimate the power of your stairs. According to the University of Mexico Health Sciences Center, a 150-pound person can lose about 6 pounds per year just by climbing two flights of stairs per day! So, what are you waiting for?

5. Get a garden!

You'll be surprised to know that you could burn 100 calories just by gardening for 22 minutes. Take this time too to do some good stuff like planting organic produce so you'll have fresh veggies and fruits for you and your family.

6. Squeeze in tiny workouts.

Do jumping jacks for 30 minutes or some Zumba exercises while watching YouTube videos! Burn those calories with those cardio exercises.

7. Homecooked meal.

Instead of ordering food or eating outside, get into cooking! 30 minutes of cooking can burn 100 calories.

8. Take a 2-minute walk every hour.

Get up and walk around your house, in your backyard just for 2 minutes every hour.

9. Catch up on Ironing.

Remember those clothes that you haven't ironed yet? Well, nows the time to straighten those wrinkled clothes! This can benefit your waistline and your wardrobe. You only need 60 minutes to lose 100 calories.

10. Commercial breaks exercises.

While it's fun and entertaining to binge-watch your favorite TV show (I love it too), take the cue of the commercial break to get up and get moving. You could do some squats, crunches or push-ups. Doing this every commercial break would help you burn those calories while having fun too!

There are many things you can do to burn those calories while at home. It's just a matter of how disciplined you are. You can use tools or gadgets to help you monitor your calories and your activities, like a pedometer or an alarm clock that will remind you that it's time to get up and get moving!

Remember that burning calories is just a bonus to being sexy and fit. The end goal is for you to become healthy and free from diseases that are caused by having a sedentary lifestyle.
